The back story

About Teotihuacan: the city of the gods

UNESCO inscribed the Pre-Hispanic City of Teotihuacan as a World Heritage site in 1987 (whc.unesco.org). Its Avenue of the Dead runs between the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, about an hour north-east of Mexico City in the State of Mexico (CDMX official tourism site).

Getting there

By private car or taxi, or by coach from the Autobuses del Norte terminal, the most affordable way according to the official tourism site.

On the site

The site is wide open: bring a hat, sun cream and comfortable shoes. It is busiest between noon and 4pm, so arrive early (CDMX official tourism site).

Coaches leave from the Autobuses del Norte terminal; go early.

Our advice: be at the gates when they open, and walk the Avenue of the Dead before the heat and the crowds.
