The Plaza de la Constitución, known as the Zócalo, is one of the largest city squares in the world, with the Catedral Metropolitana on its north side. It lies at the heart of the Historic Centre of Mexico City, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987 (whc.unesco.org). Dress respectfully in the cathedral, and keep to the edges during services.
