The back story

About Taxco: the silver town on the hill

Taxco, in the state of Guerrero south of Mexico City, climbs a hillside in white houses and red roofs. It grew rich on silver, and its workshops still sell it; on the main square, the Plaza Borda, stands the 18th-century church of Santa Prisca.
