About Día de Muertos in Mexico City
UNESCO inscribed the Indigenous festivity dedicated to the dead on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008 (ich.unesco.org). In 2026 the city’s Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos runs on Saturday 31 October from 2pm, from Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo, and the Ofrenda Monumental fills the Zócalo from 29 October to 2 November (mexicocity.cdmx.gob.mx).
