Privacy & cookies

The short version: ULTIMATE Mexico City Guide sets no cookies, shows no adverts and does not follow you around the web. A few small items are kept in your own browser so the guide works, and an anonymous count of page views shows us which pages people read.

What we keep on your device

• The places you save and the places you have recently viewed. They stay in this browser only; clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
• A note that you have already signed up to the newsletter on this device, so we don’t ask again.
• For the visitor count: the date of your last visit, so your first page each day is counted once.

The visitor count

For each page view we record the page, the date, whether it is your first page that day, the website or search engine you came from, whether you are on a phone or a computer, your browser’s language and your time zone. We store no cookies, no IP address and no visitor ID.

The newsletter

If you sign up, we keep your email address and your consent, and use them only to send this newsletter. To be removed, email info@ultimateinternationalcityguide.com.

Comments and photos you send us

What you post in the discussions is published with the name you give. Photos and logos sent through “Add your photos” are reviewed before we use them.

Other services a page may contact

• Photos load from Wikimedia Commons and our image host. Like any website, those servers see your IP address.
• Google Maps loads only when you press “Show the map” on a venue page; Google then sets its own cookies. “Open in Google Maps” takes you to Google’s site.
• The maps on our lists load from OpenStreetMap only when you open them.
• The weather in the header comes from MET Norway, whose servers see your IP address.
• Film trailers play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode; YouTube may store information on your device once you play one.
• Instagram posts load only when you choose to view them; Instagram then sets its own cookies.
• Our fonts come from our own site, not from Google.
