About Museo Casa Rivas Mercado
Antonio Rivas Mercado, the architect of the Monumento a la Independencia, built this eclectic mansion in the Colonia Guerrero in the 1890s. After the 1985 earthquake and decades of neglect it was rescued and restored by the Fundación Conmemoraciones as a cultural centre and museum, with its fruit garden, English garden and the garden of the Victoria Alada. Guided visits run on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am and noon, by reservation, and there are dramatised visits too.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Museo Casa Rivas Mercado before you go.
